France 24: American night in four languages

France 24, the public international 24-hour news channel, entrusted Luxiris with the graphic design of its coverage of the US elections in November 2020.

A major issue for the whole world, this event gave rise to special broadcasts lasting several hours, on the channel’s four channels (French, English, Arabic and Spanish).

Luxiris handled all aspects of the operation, including:

  • the provision of graphic rendering engines for rehearsals and special broadcasts,
the integration of the channel’s graphic charter into the Avid Maestro environment, with the creation of personalised control panels for operators,
  • the development of a solution for managing election data supplied in real time by the Associated Press for each election and referendum scheduled for that day,
  • the creation of a user interface enabling editorial staff to validate the results received, state by state. This interface was also accessible to journalists deployed in the field to ensure consistency in the information delivered,
  • semi-automated export of infographics for the channel’s social networks and those of the France Médias Monde group,
  • on-site operation and support in the channel’s studios throughout the 12 hours of broadcast.

Our engineering, development, operations and graphics integration teams worked for several weeks on setting up and rehearsing this system to ensure that the evening ran smoothly.
